International Yoga Day 2022

Día Internacional del Yoga 2022

As every 21st of June, today is the International Yoga Day. Each year a theme is chosen to celebrate the International Yoga Day and for this year 2022 the theme is: «Yoga for Humanity».

Yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual practice of ancient tradition, which originated in India. The word "yoga" comes from Sanskrit and means unity because it symbolises the union of body and mind.

Today, various forms of yoga are practised and its success and the number of followers is growing worldwide.

In recognition of its universal popularity, on 11 December 2014, the United Nations proclaimed 21 June as the International Day of Yoga, with the resolution 69/131

Yoga is considered a holistic discipline because it works in an integral, harmonious and balanced way in all areas of the human being, but always respecting the cycles of nature.s

Yoga is more than a physical activity. Yoga as a discipline represents the unity of mind and body, thought and action.

On the 21st of June there will be different activities all over the world to commemorate the International Yoga Day. We are fortunate to have in our centre the colleagues of Ashrama Yoga Santiago, who will carry out different activities during the day, such as open classes or informative photo exhibitions.
