On this March 8th, we celebrate International Women's Day and join in the just demands for equality. Every day is March 8th because every day we must continue to pave the way.
Our headquarters will host various commemorative events, always respecting the established health protocols.
We share with you one of the most renowned poems by Xohana Torres (from Tempo de Ría, 1992) and her reinterpretation of the myth of Penelope, which concludes with an emblematic verse: I TOO SHALL SAIL.
PENELOPE
The oracle declares:
"THAT at the edge of sunset lies the sea of the dead,
uncertain, the last light, fear shall not prevail.THAT laurel branches raise girls.
THAT a mauve heart decides the distaff.THAT in your homeland you will harvest the grapes.
THAT when the wind subsides, you shall drink the wine.THAT voiceless, you shall sail against the wind.
THAT a summary of chaff awaits the cons."Thus spoke Penelope:
"Magic exists and can be for everyone.
Why so much spinning and so many stories?I TOO SHALL SAIL."
