There are many reasons to come to work at Campus Stellae Business and Coworking Centre, but without a doubt one of the most important is the location. In this post we talk about the importance of location for any business project. The location is one of the most important strategic decisions for the profitability of any business and also one of the most difficult to make. The success of the business project depends heavily on its correct choice because the location largely determines its clientele and, therefore, its success.

This centrality is well explained by the phrase of Ray Kroc, promoter of McDonald's, who said:

"The three essential elements for business success are: location, location and location".

McDonalds is today one of the world's largest real estate owners because Kroc understood that you could have the best product in the world, but without the right location it would never succeed.

This is also particularly important in the case of tourism companies. Why do some companies succeed and others do not? The importance of location is in fact one of the major differentiating elements of the tourism sector compared to other economic activities, which makes it particularly sensitive to other external factors.

So important is location and location that one of the new disciplines on the rise in the tourism sector is geomarketing, which allows us to study and better understand the tourism that visits us and its interests and needs. This is vital given that each type of tourism (cultural, religious, beach, gastronomic, ...) has a very different user profile.

Value of the tourism sector

To talk about the tourism sector is to talk about one of the most important sectors of the global economy. Let us remember that this is one of the most labour-intensive sectors worldwide and accounted for 10.4% of global GDP in 2018. In the case of countries such as Spain, dependence on tourism is very high (it accounted for 14.9% of GDP in 2018). Also for regions such as Galicia where it accounted for 10.4% of GDP and 11% of the workforce in 2019. The same applies to cities that are major destinations such as Santiago de Compostela.

Before the pandemic, tourism maintained high and sustained growth. Today, after the great shock, it seems that countries are opening their hands and trying creative solutions to provide relief to a sector that is being sustained thanks to national tourism and the initiatives that promote it.

Location and business opportunity in Santiago de Compostela

Santiago is the Galician city with the highest GDP per inhabitant, accounting for 5.9% of the region's total. Moreover, the figures speak of a recovery of tourism in Santiago, but the truth is that it is only necessary to take a stroll through its streets to see that they are brimming with activity this summer. The flow of people is very high. The forecast can only be optimistic considering that next year will also be a Holy Year.

If you are thinking of undertaking a project focused on tourism, do not hesitate to find out about the different options we can offer you at the foot of the Plaza de la Quintana (Puerta Santa), on the corner with Platerías (main entrance to the Cathedral of Santiago). You will have the benefit of such important factors as:
